Storage – at the Museum of International Folk Art in Santa Fe NM

The Museum of International Folk Art is located on “Museum Hill”, just a few miles from the historic plaza that is the heart of Santa Fe NM. This institution is one of the few in the world dedicated to the care and preservation of folk art. While many are familiar with the exceptional exhibitions and catalogs generated by the museum, there is a part of the museum that is less known.

With a collection of over 100,000 works, only a small percentage of the art is on display at any given time. Carefully arranged by country of origin, the bulk of the objects are safety placed in drawers and on shelves in climate controlled storage areas.

Viewing work in this part of the museum can be as exciting as attending an exhibition. It is a different orientation, without a doubt, but for the informed eye, equally as exhilarating.

Guillermo Martin Bermejo – at Arana Poveda Galeria

A new exhibition by Guillermo Martin Bermejo is currently at the Arana Poveda Galeria in Madrid (February 3rd. - April 13th. 2012).

The works shown are diminutive in scale and emotionally intimate. Bermejo is an artist who reveals the personal with a storybook like narrative. The power of his work is delivered with a soft voice.
